Project: Western Sydney Airport
Client:  Duratec
Scope: Trenching and backfilling 11 km of the 450 mm diameter fuel main ranging from 2 m to 6 m deep in some areas. This also included ITS pit and conduit installation and FRP valve pit structures.

​One of the notable achievements during this project was the successful collaboration between Kane Civil and the ICL team. Working directly together, the teams developed a sequence of works for drainage installation on the live carriageway of Victoria Road during ROL times. This collaboration helped minimise local impact due to noise, dust, and vibration, despite challenging road conditions.

The Marrickville dive site played a pivotal role in the launch and support of two tunnel boring machines for the Sydney Metro project. Kane Civil was entrusted with the task of removing a heavily reinforced concrete slab and commencing drainage installation after the TBMs' launch.
Overcoming the unique constraints of the dive site, Kane Civil successfully navigated the distinct challenges of this project, ensuring the safe and efficient progress of the broader Sydney Metro project.
Project: WestConnex 3B – Sydney Trains Switching Substation Rozelle
Client: Gartner Rose
Scope: All civil works included new kerbs, installation of bollards, earthworks, and new storm drainage.
Kane Civil successfully completed the civil scope on the new Sydney Trains Switching Substation for Gartner Rose within the Rozelle Rail Yards as part of the WestConnex 3B Rozelle Interchange Project. Significant electrical conduits were also installed to allow the commissioning of the substation.

Scope: Kane Civil Engineering was engaged by Degnan to deliver civil and foundation works for a new 33kV substation within a legacy industrial, asbestos-contaminated environment.

Challenges included managing undocumented legacy services and shallow groundwater conditions, requiring coordination, protection, relocation, and efficient groundwater management strategies. Through proactive planning and close collaboration with Degnan, Kane Civil successfully delivered critical early works, enabling the safe and timely construction of the substation.

Project: Menangle Park Transmission Substation
Client: Haslin Constructions

Scope: Electrical Conduits & Pits, Stormwater Infrastructure, Bulk Earthworks, Site Level Raise
Kane Civil Engineering is delivering critical civil and underground infrastructure works for the development of a new 33kV electrical substation for Haslin. The project involves the installation of extensive electrical conduit networks and associated service pits, construction of stormwater drainage systems including pipes and pits, and bulk earthworks to import engineered fill and achieve required finished surface levels across the site.
Works are being delivered in a live construction environment, requiring careful sequencing and coordination to support ongoing structural and electrical installation activities. Kane Civil has implemented a structured earthworks and services delivery approach to ensure the formation of a stable building platform while maintaining programme certainty and compliance with project specifications. Our team’s experience in utility infrastructure enables efficient integration of underground services, ensuring constructability, accuracy, and alignment with the broader design intent.
Project: Western Sydney Airport Substation
Client: Haslin Constructions

Scope: Electrical Conduits & Pits, Stormwater Infrastructure, Bulk & Detailed Earthworks
Kane Civil was engaged by Haslin Constructions to carry out the civil scope for the construction of a brand-new, 132kV Digital Transmission Substation at Badgerys Creek in Western Sydney. This facility provides electricity to the new Western Sydney International Airport as part of the NSW Government’s mammoth Western Sydney Aerotropolis project.
As the largest indoor transmission substation in the Endeavour Network, there were some unique changes. Our team installed a substantial conduit network to service this building, along with in-ground drainage and large retention tanks, along with GPTs.
Through disciplined planning, strong site management, and a focus on safety and environmental performance, Kane Civil continues to support the delivery of essential energy infrastructure while maintaining high standards of quality and technical execution.
Project: Eastern Creek Speedway
Client: Abergeldie Complex Infrastructures
Scope: Kane Civil had been engaged to carry out extensive conduit and pit installation throughout the project, along with additional detailed earthworks. Overall, this included approximately 4,000 lm of conduit and 129 precast pits.
This project delivered a new clay-based racetrack catering to both speedway cars and motorcycles, ensuring an enhanced racing experience. A new grandstand, terraced seating for 7,000 spectators, and comprehensive amenities including corporate boxes, food, beverage, and merchandise outlets. Construction of 2,800 new parking spaces and dual vehicle access via a new intersection built off Ferrers Road. Construction of a dedicated competitor pit area, including workshops, garages, and trackside support services.
Project: Sydenham Station Junction Upgrade (SSJ)
Client: John Holland and Laing O’Rourke JV

Scope: The completion of a bulk and detailed earthworks package including ground stabilisation. In addition, KC carried out FRP works which included cess drains adjacent to live track, retaining walls, stitch pours, and trackside foundations. Our experienced team also positioned 800 m of precast retaining walls weighing between 5 and 12 t each with the use of our in-house cranage equipment, all achieved under Level 5 protection. Other activities include drainage, CSR and multiple ULX installations.
SSJ is a critical part of the transformation of the overall Sydney Metro City & Southwest project and is a key area of interface where the new metro meets the existing Sydney Trains networks.
